VersaCourt's Basketball Court Makes a Mom's Dream Come True

Family surprised with basketball court and goal on Live with Regis and Kelly.

The Kilbert family of Clovis, California was honored by Live with Regis and Kelly's 2009 Mom's Dream Come True Contest. VersaCourt International and VersaCourt of Northern California were there to make the Kilbert's dream come true with a brand new customized basketball court and a Goalsetter basketball goal.

In 2006, Shawna Kilbert, was diagnosed with cervical cancer. During her long battle with cancer, Shawna had several goals and dreams for her family. One of her dreams was to have a basketball court which her husband, Dan and their two boys, Preston, 6, and Logan 3 ½ could enjoy in their backyard. This past March, Shawna lost her brave fight with cancer and passed away.

In an effort to make one of Shawna's dreams come true, her best friend, Suzanne Motte, submitted the Kilbert's story to Live with Regis and Kelly's 2009 Mom's Dream Come True Contest. The producers of Live with Regis and Kelly embraced the Kilbert's story and contacted VersaCourt to get the ball rolling.

"The family has such a touching story. Shawna's love for her family and her heroic battle against cervical cancer made it an easy decision for VersaCourt to donate the basketball court, goal, concrete slab, and labor" said Danny Little, CEO of VersaCourt.

The gray basketball court, which was revealed to the family May 8, has a navy lane and border and includes a fleur de lis (flower of life) customized logo which was Shawna's favorite symbol. Also included with the court is a Goalsetter MVP Basketball Goal. This basketball goal is adjustable from 6' to 10' allowing for Dan and his boys to reach optimal performance. Dan, the head women's basketball coach at Reedly college will now have a first class training area to teach his young boys the game they love so much.

Russ Worsley Chief Operating Officer with VersaCourt was joined by Brian McGibbon, owner of VersaCourt of Northern California, and his team to install the new basketball court and goal in the Kilbert's backyard. "It was exciting to be able to be apart of this. The Kilbert family has been through a great deal these past few months and to be able to deliver a smile to their faces is just a great feeling," said Worsley.
