Tennis Court Dimensions

An official tennis court is 78 feet long. For singles matches, the width is 27 feet, for doubles matches, the width is 36 feet. There are boundary lines on tennis courts to ensure proper play. A net is strung across the middle of the tennis court at a height of three feet at centre. Service lines are 21 feet from each side of the net, indicating the area of which a serve should be performed.

It has been recommended to build a tennis court from north to south to prevent sun glare during play. Placing a fence around your outdoor tennis court is also a good strategy to avoid wind from moving your ball. This will also stop run-away balls.

Variations of the Game include games called One Ball Live, Tag Team Singles, King of the Court, or Champs and Chumps.
